We’re excited to highlight a major milestone by our member, Better Society Capital (BSC), which has now invested £1 billion into over 3,750 charities and social enterprises across the UK, alongside an additional £2.9 billion in co-investment from new partners. This nearly £4 billion in total capital is making a real difference in areas such as housing, education, employment, health, and financial inclusion.

Reflecting on their 13-year journey, BSC highlights the power of recycling capital, starting from dormant bank assets and growing the UK’s social investment market twelve-fold to over £10 billion. Their work has helped deliver over 7,000 homes, supported more than 7 million people, and directed over 60% of social lending into the UK’s most deprived areas.

This impact has only been possible thanks to a network of dedicated partners—from fund managers to frontline social enterprises—working together to scale solutions to complex social challenges.

Looking ahead, BSC is focused on deepening its work with government and expanding initiatives across key policy areas such as homelessness, children’s social care, and the just transition. This achievement is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when capital is aligned with purpose.
