Our mission is to grow the next generation of impact lawyers who will advocate for and champion a rapid and just transition towards a truly sustainable and inclusive economy.
Our work will not end until the just transition has been achieved – and all lawyers are impact lawyers. We cannot do this without you. We are building a community that supports lawyers to have a positive impact on people and planet through their work.
All members will be able to share knowledge and benefit from networking opportunities. Through our programming and member platform, the community shares market intelligence and discusses the latest legal developments affecting businesses in the impact economy.
As a member, you will be connected to your peers across the globe. You will have the opportunity to attend regular global and regional events to hear about the innovative, interesting and impactful work lawyers like you are engaging in. At all levels, members are able to vote for, and be elected to, their regional board.

This level of membership is for law firms that want to support the Global Alliance of Impact Lawyers to facilitate change and support the movement to a more equitable system.
Firms will receive memberships based on the number of partners at the firm. Firms are able to designate key individuals to receive voting memberships, as well as access to our member platform and on-demand online content. We encourage knowledge sharing and networking amongst all members at the global and regional level. This level of membership will allow firms to grow their impact practice and will inform advice to clients. Through their membership, firms will be part of a global and local movement to build a vibrant impact economy.

This level of membership is for organisations who want to support the Global Alliance of Impact Lawyers to catalyse emerging, alternative economic paradigms which prioritise people and the planet alongside profit.
We encourage organisations with, and without, in-house legal counsel to contribute their market intelligence to the community through membership. Organisations will receive memberships based on the size of the organisation. Organisations can designate in-house lawyers who will receive voting membership, and staff who will receive access to the member platform and on-demand online content. This level of membership will help organisations deliver impact, and build their team’s expertise. Organisations will be able to develop the necessary knowledge and skills around particular impact areas. Legal teams will be able to share knowledge with other in-house lawyers who face the same challenges, and identify lawyers in the GAIL community to instruct. By engaging with GAIL’s programming, your team will be kept up to date with the latest trends and market developments.

The base currency used is GBP. Membership fees are payable annually. Prices are subject to change annually.
GAIL is a democratic organisation. Each voting membership will be held by an individual lawyer who will designate the region they are attached to: Africa*, Asia Pacific, continental Europe, Latin America, North America or the United Kingdom.
Votes can be used to elect members of the relevant GAIL regional board at the time of elections. Each corporate member is able to assign its votes to lawyers working at their firm or organisation. Where corporate members have multiple offices, they may wish to consider the geographic spread when allocating their voting memberships to their lawyers.
* We hope to establish the GAIL Africa regional board within 2022-23.
