Marlies Van de Poel joined impact lawyers in 2019. Already druing her law studies, Marlies was passionate about the social and not-for-profit sector. As an active member and head of Finance and Legal of Academics for Development NPO, a student organisation focusing on social entrepreneurship, she gathered a lot of practical experience and insights in these matters. Marlies Van de Poels expertise mainly relates to advisory work on all types of organisational questions (choice of legal form, optimal set-up of activities and group-structures, (public private) partnerships, network organisations, governance, D&O liability…) as well as litigation concerning NPO related matters, but also criminal matters, contractual disputes etc. Her broad interest in social change and sustainability led her to join the Challenger programme of The Shift, the Belgian sustainability community, in 2022. She was selected by The Shift to be part of a group of young transition pioneers to represent a critical voice and engage in dialogue with organisations and people.
