Lawyer specializing in environmental law, ESG and impact, climate change, energy transition, ethnic law and green business, holding a master’s degree in environmental and energy law. Experience in law firms, NGOs, research groups and companies in Europe and Latin America. Guillermo currently serves as Director of the Environment and Sustainable Business and ASG and Impact teams at Brigard Urrutia.
He focuses his practice on environmental law, ESG, sustainability and impact law, renewable energies, social and environmental management of projects, green and sustainable businesses, environmental economic law (structuring of Payment for Environmental Services schemes, International Trade and Environment, Benefits and Tax and Non-Tax Incentives) and environmental urban law.
Guillermo conducts his work in Spanish, Portuguese and English, and is fluent in German, and also serves as professor at several universities in Colombia. He is author of several publications on environmental law, renewable energy and sustainability. Also, Guillermo serves as an Officer of the IBA Environment, Safety and Health at Work Committee, associate of the Environmental Law Institute – ELI, representative for Colombia on the board of directors of the Global Association of Impact Lawyers GAIL, LATAM Chapter, co-founder and member of the board of directors of ALDAS and member of the Board of Directors of the Green Chamber of Commerce of Colombia.
J.D and Master´s in Law from the Law School of the Universidad de los Andes (Colombia), Guillermo holds an LL.M in Environmental and Energy Law from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven – K.U Leuven (Belgium) as well as postgraduate degrees in Environmental Law from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul – UFRGS (Brazil) and in Regulation of Electricity and Gas from the Universidad Externado de Colombia.
