The Current ESG Regulatory Landscape and the Road Ahead

Roberto Randazzo coordinates the ESG and Impact industry at Legance. With a background in commercial and corporate law, he has expertise in sustainability, ESG criteria, impact finance, and social innovation, assisting investment funds, benefit corporations, B-Corps, and companies interested in generating positive and measurable impacts.

For more than twenty years Roberto has been involved in non-profit organisations, strategic philanthropy and social entrepreneurship, dealing with projects both nationally and internationally, with focus on emerging markets. He has always combined professional and academic activities, and is currently an Adjunct Professor at Tiresia – Politecnico di Milano and a member of the Extended faculty of the Graduate School of Management at Politecnico di Milano. Roberto is also Emeritus Director of the Global Alliance of Impact Lawyers (GAIL), Officer of the Business Human Rights Committee of the International Bar Association, member of the Working Group on SFDR of Invest Europe; he is founder and member of the scientific committees of Assobenefit, and member of the scientific committees of Salone della CSR and Social Impact Agenda for Italy.

Raluca is an experienced general counsel with over 17 years of expertise in the private and public sectors, working at the intersection of sustainability, business, policy and law in climate innovation, ESG, impact investments, and sustainable entrepreneurship. She is currently based in Amsterdam. In 2022 she was included in the Benelux General Counsel Power List published by Legal 500, recognising the top 100 in-house counsels in the region. She worked as Counsel for the European Commission and as a lawyer in the public and private domains, with large companies, start-ups, and scale-ups. She studied law, sustainability, business, and finance in four languages and has an international career spanning four European countries and two other continents.

Raluca is Founder and Managing Director at LegallySaid, an impact-driven legal consultancy whose mission is to to accelerate impact and increase access to capital through smart legal structures. Before that she was General Counsel at The Impact Facility, directing capital and resources to mining communities to create sustainable supply chains of minerals, supporting the tech industry and the energy transition. She also was General Counsel at Fairphone, a Dutch award-winning tech company, including the UN COP21 Momentum for Change and Time Magazine’s Best Inventions. She co-founded the Legal Initiative for Sustainable Investments (LISI) Foundation, a co-creation and dialogue platform bringing together legal and investment professionals aiming to make the law more accessible, approachable, and appealing to all investment stakeholders. The LISI Impact Term Sheet, an open-source legal tool for more impactful equity investments has won the Dutch Legal Awards prize in the ESG category and has been downloaded more than 1000 times by a global community.

Rosienne Steensma is Head of the Health, Safety and Environment department at the Royal Association of the Dutch Chemical Industry (VNCI). She believes chemistry and chemical industry are key to developing the solutions needed for a sustainable future.

Enrico works in APG AM’s investment risk management team dedicated to responsible investment, where he contributes to integrating sustainability risk into investment oversight. He previously served as legal counsel for sustainable finance at Triodos Bank and has an academic background in sustainability regulation.
