GAIL In‑House Invites you to
Staying Anchored in Uncertain Times
Online | 20 April 2026
09:00 EDT | 14:00 BST | 18:30 IST
This webinar was hosted by GAIL’s In‑House Community, reflecting themes that arise acutely for in‑house lawyers navigating complexity, uncertainty, and competing demands. At the same time, the questions it explores—about values, purpose, leadership, and decision‑making under pressure—are shared across the legal profession, and all GAIL members are warmly invited to join.
In this session, Professor Scott Westfahl, Faculty Director of Harvard Law School Executive Education, introduced cutting-edge research on the neuroscience of spiritual practices and how leaders can leverage the lessons from that research to stay true to their values and purpose in the face of uncertainty and change. This research is gaining increasing attention across Harvard and is the foundation for the newest leadership course offered at Harvard Business School, entitled “The Spiritual Lives of Leadership”.
As a member of the faculty team for that course, Professor Westfahl has been collaborating with HBS, Harvard Divinity School, and Harvard Kennedy School Faculty to explore how spirituality relates to leadership through more holistic decision-making and emotional regulation.
Professor Westfahl shared key learnings from the course and offered GAIL members participating in this session the opportunity to share their own related perspectives and experiences.
