By gathering thought leaders, legal professionals, and impact practitioners, the event will serve as a platform to drive collaboration, raise awareness, and launch key initiatives that align with GAIL’s mission.

Mr Dawda Jawara III is Deputy General Counsel of the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, the world’s largest Philanthropy that focuses specifically on improving children’s lives.
Prior to CIFF, Dawda was a Partner at Altica Partners, an impact focused investment and advisory vehicle based in Dubai, and before that was Legal Director and Head of the Africa Practice of Clyde & Co LLP, where he drove the firm’s expansion strategy into new African jurisdictions.
From 2012 to date, Dawda has completed various consultancies at the African Export Import Bank (Afreximbank) where he has overseen a deal portfolio exceeding US$ 3 billion, including transactions awarded African trade finance deal of the year and African project finance deal of the year respectively in 2016.
Dawda started his career as a banking and finance lawyer at Hogan Lovells LLP in the City of London, where he was an inaugural member of the firm’s Africa desk.
He is solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales and a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of The Gambia. He holds an LLM from the University of Law in London and a Ba in Law and Sociology from the University of Warwick.

Safo is an associate at n. dowuona & company. His areas of focus are banking and finance, corporate and commercial and dispute resolution. His recent work with the firm includes advising an international company on a merger and acquisition transaction and advising an international corporation on a subsea project involving submarine telecommunications cables. He routinely participates in due diligence transactions.
Safo holds a B.A in Sociology and Linguistics from the University of Ghana. He obtained his GDL and LLM LPC from BPP London, and a professional certificate from the Ghana School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in Ghana and the United Kingdom.
General Legal Counsel at Minerals Commission
Josef Iroko was called to the Ghana Bar in 2003 and has over the last twenty-one years worked both in the private and public sectors. Between 2003 and 2010, he worked as a private legal practitioner with two well-known law firms based in Accra that specialize in natural resources, Kudjawu & Co. and Sey & Co. During this time, he functioned as an external counsel representing the interest of several mining companies, including multinationals such as Newmont, Goldfields, AngloGold Ashanti, Shell, Heidelberg and other mining support service firms, in and out of various courts and tribunals.
In 2010, Josef joined a state agency, National Identification Authority (NIA), to establish its legal department, where he played a dual role as both Legal Counsel and Board Secretary. While at NIA, he provided legal support for key initiatives, including the successful launch of the national mass registration exercise to register Ghanaian citizens at home and abroad through deploying advanced instant-issuing technology; Key responsibilities included writing and amending enabling laws and aiding in securing regulatory approvals, including cabinet and bi-partisan parliamentary approval, and supporting the CEO/Board in over 20 stakeholder engagements across the country.
Josef joined Ghana’s minerals and mining regulator, Minerals Commission, in 2019, to pursue his passion for mining, where he is currently the Manager of Legal. He has provided legal advice on various mineral transactions, drafted key mineral legislations and represented the mining regulator at various mining-related fora in and outside Ghana.
Josef is also an adjunct lecturer in Mining Law and Mineral Policy of Developing Countries at the Department of Sustainable Mineral Resource Development, School of Mines and Built Environment, the University of Energy and Natural Resources, Sunyani, Ghana.
Josef holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ghana, Legon, Accra. He also has a Master of Science in Environmental and Sustainability Management, a Master of Arts in International Relations, both from the Wisconsin International University College, Accra, Ghana, and a Master of Law in International Mineral Law and Policy from the University of Dundee, Scotland.

Ruka Sanusi is a highly accomplished management consultant with 28 years of international consulting experience in Europe and across sub-Saharan Africa. Her career to date has been built around her abilities to both provide advice on matters of business/organisational strategy, operations and transformation, and organizing resources and facilities to implement recommendations – she has strategic and operational ability. An astute professional, Ruka has provided technical and operational leadership on private sector transformation as well public sector reform assignments, sustainability and climate change programs, as well as large, complex change management programs. She conveys a deep knowledge of matters pertinent to business/organizational strategy and operations, climate action in the government and business sector; gender and entrepreneurship, as well as SME-growth.

Prince has a diverse background as a Lawyer, Engineer, and Sustainability Expert. He has experience in various industries, including mining, oil and gas, construction, real estate, transport, banking, hospitality, and tourism. Previously, he worked for companies such as AngloGold Ashanti and Newmont Mining Corporation.
Currently, the CEO of SUCCA Africa Ltd, a management consulting firm. An alumnus of the following institutions: KNUST-Ghana, GIMPA-Ghana, the University of Twente in the Netherlands, and the University of Cambridge in England.
He is a member of the Ghana Bar and the Ghana Institution of Engineering. Additionally, he is a certified ISO 14001 lead auditor and holds certifications from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) as a Sustainability and Climate Risk Professional.

Assistant State Attorney with the Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice
Winnie is a young professional who is five years at the Ghana Bar. She is an Assistant State Attorney with the Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice; seconded to Office of Registrar of Companies for 2 years and currently with the Registrar-General’s Department. She began her career in private practice at N.Dowuona & Co, a top tier commercial law firm in Cantonments, Accra when she was called to the Bar in 2019. She currently works on Industrial property rights, administration of estates and as an Assistant Administrator-General. She also works as an Assistant Registrar of Marriages with her boss, Mrs Grace Issahaque who is the Registrar General of Ghana.
