Hosted by GAIL UK

Format: Online | Member-Only

The first GAIL UK members drop-in session of 2026.

An informal, online meet-up, a chance to meet your fellow members to share updates, recent work, discuss opportunities to collaborate and highlight developments in impact law. GAIL is keen to hear from members about any topics you would like to discuss at future sessions.

Overview

The GAIL UK Members Drop-In Session on 21 January 2026 featured discussions on the UK government’s new Office for the Impact Economy and blended finance.

John White from Better Society Capital explained the Office’s role in coordinating impact investors, philanthropy, and purpose-driven businesses with the government. The Office, headed by Darren Jones and, based in the Cabinet Office, aims to enhance social impact across the UK.

Naomi Sander discussed GAIL’s blended finance project, highlighting the importance of blended finance in mobilising private capital for sustainable development. The session also explored practical legal challenges, regulatory issues, and the need for standardised best practices in blended finance transactions.
